IRF opens wide-reaching discussions on fostering a common culture of road safety, environmental sustainability and resilient road design in the Caribbean.

The International Road Federation is supporting the 2015 International Highway Technology Summit, which opens its doors in Shanghai on April 21. Held every two years, IHTS is the largest and the most influential highway knowledge platform in China.

Over the last 65 years, the IRF Fellowship Program has represented a life-changing opportunity for 1,371 transportation students to further their education and make lasting impacts in their home countries. On February 11, 2015, the IRF formally launched a campaign to raise US $4 million in endowments in pursuit of our goal to train the next generation of transportation leaders.

For the past 65 years, the IRF Fellowship Program has helped change the lives of 1,371 women and men in 117 countries. Through educational scholarships and a multi-day leadership program, these professionals have continued their education in areas related to transportation and greatly contributed to raising transport standards and quality of life in their home countries.

The International Road Federation recognizes the significant role of the World Bank and other regional Multilateral Development Banks in influencing quality standards for road infrastructure and the broader transport system across all the countries where they operate.

The International Road Federation formally concluded the 1st IRF Asia Regional Congress Exhibition today with a forward-looking roundtable discussion devoted to regional capacity-strengthening programs.

On day two of the IRF Asia Regional Congress, road safety agency heads and stakeholders from Asian nations joined in a high-level roundtable at the invitation of the International Road Federation.

More than 700 industry professionals representing 52 countries took part in today’s opening of the 1st International Road Federation Asia Regional Congress & Exhibition, a regional summit for road and transportation stakeholders held in Bali, Indonesia.

His Excellency Eng. Abdullah A. Al-Mogbel, chairman of the International Road Federation, announced today the winners of the 2014 Global Road Achievement Awards competition. The 2014 awards honor nine projects from around the world, each leading the way in innovation and excellence in its respective area of the road industry. The selection was made by an international panel of senior road development specialists.

Indonesia’s Vice-Minister of Public Works, Eng. Hermanto Dardak, has been awarded the International Road Federation’s highest and most prestigious individual distinction.

The IRF Fellowship Program provides a one-time graduate level scholarship to young professionals who have strong academic backgrounds, professional qualifications, leadership potential, and a commitment to return to their respective home countries after graduation. Students selected for the Class of 2016 will also participate in the 10-day IRF Road Scholar Program, held in Washington, D.C. in January.

Federal Republic of Nigeria President Goodluck Jonathan will deliver the opening address on the occasion of the 1st IRF Africa Regional Congress on June 4 in Abuja, Nigeria. Dr. Jonathan has been Nigeria's head of state since 2010, having previously served as federal vice president, as well as governor of the state of Bayelsa.
