Why Guyana? A Region on the Rise

Guyana is rapidly emerging as one of the **fastest-growing economies in the world—and the fastest in South America—**making it a strategic and timely host for the 13th IRF Caribbean Regional Congress. Fueled by major offshore oil discoveries and significant infrastructure investment, the country has recorded extraordinary GDP growth averaging around 47% annually since 2022, the highest globally.

In 2024 alone, Guyana’s economy expanded by approximately 43–44%, far outpacing global and regional averages, while the non-oil economy continues to grow strongly at over 13%, signaling broad-based development beyond energy.

With sustained investments in transport, energy, and urban infrastructure, Guyana is projected to maintain double-digit growth in the coming years, positioning itself as a key hub for innovation, connectivity, and resilient infrastructure development in the Caribbean and wider South American region.
