From the Chairman

On behalf of the IRF’s global volunteer leadership and members, it gives me great pleasure to invite you to the 7th IRF Caribbean Regional Congress.

The IRF has been a focal presence in the Caribbean since 2012 through its IRF Caribbean Regional Congress, as an annual gathering of the region’s top transportation decision-makers and professionals. We are delighted to return to Jamaica with a mandate to innovate across a range of industry challenges, from resilient road design to public partnership models, all designed to ensure that the value of roads to society is maximized.

This year’s IRF Congress focus reflects growing concerns throughout the region for vulnerabilities in the road network exposed by recent acute weather events. A road system that cannot withstand the emerging impacts of climate change will prove burdensome, impose high costs for repair, and delays disaster recovery efforts, causing significant economic losses. Clearly defined and effective evacuation routes can be the difference between life and death.

I trust all of you will enjoy this event and take this opportunity to learn, explore and share valuable insights, solutions, and technologies that can be applied to solve critical transportation challenges in your respective countries.

Eng. Abdullah A. Al-Mogbel
IRF Chairman
