Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning Applications in Transportation Industry

Nov 24, 2025 - Nov 28, 2025

| Istanbul, Turkiye

Overview

This course introduces artificial intelligence (AI) and machine learning (ML) different applications in transportation industry with emphasis on roadway and bridge conditions reporting, analysis, and decision-making optimization. The course includes detailed information relevant to different types of AI and their applications, ML algorithms used in transportation industry and relevant types of data required for developing ML models for optimized selection of project types, mitigating short- and long-term problems, and optimize preventative maintenance and maintenance, repair, and replacement (MR&R) activities required during the transportation project life cycle.

Learning Objectives

  • Develop a foundational understanding of road asset management principles, concepts, and terminology, including the lifecycle approach to managing road infrastructure assets.
  • Acquire knowledge of the key components of road asset management, and relevant data required to form inventories for pavement and bridge management systems.
  • Understand the difference between various types of artificial intelligence and their possible role in transportation industry.
  • Develop a strong background relevant to machine learning different techniques and algorithms required for infrastructure asset management including regression, clustering, decision trees, random forests, and neural networks.
  • Develop basic understanding to coding principles using Python.
  • Import big data sheets and develop correlations between different variable using Python.
  • Master data analysis and data visualization to assist in decision making.
