Webinar Overview

Road Funding Policy: Time for New Revenue Collection Systems

For most of the 20th century, countries have collected fuel taxes to fund transportation investments. This webinar will include an overview of the motivations for Road User Charging (RUC) in the age of declining revenue sources by explaining how RUC is both a major step toward direct user fees for motorists and an opportunity to examine the linkage to investment decision making, because road charging contains not only revenue data but also direct information about usage of the road network that does not exist in fuel taxation. This webinar will also provide a summary of key global and regional transportation funding challenges and the essential features a Road Usage Charge system must include.

This webinar forms part of a three-part feature introducing the new IRF Road User Charging Academy.
