Currently the Director of Street and Park Maintenance in City of Helsinki. He has been developing winter maintenance process “snow logistics” more cost-effective and reliable solutions in many ways during his career. He started his career as research scientist in winter maintenance and has been an international speaker at numerous international presentations regarding winter maintenance process development, asphalt technology and road side safety & environment. He is also board member in the International Federation of Municipal Engineering (IFME) and Nordic Road Association (NVF), Secretary General in Finnish Association of Municipal Engineering (FAME) and chairman of the Finnish Asphalt Association (PANK). He has gathered free publication about Best Practices in Winter Road Maintenance for IFME. He has had over 40 oral presentation in international conferences and published over 30 research articles, he has patent for nontoxic de-icing chemical.

Dr. Ibrahim Sonmez
ISFALT
Dr. Ibrahim Sonmez works as Deputy General Manager of ISFALT in Turkey. He was born in Duzce, Turkey 1969. He graduated from Karadeniz Technical University, geological engineering in 1990, followed by a master`s degree in Applied Geology from Istanbul Technical University. He obtained his phd degree in Applied Geology from Istanbul University. He has 25 years of experience in various sectors. Sonmez is also professor at Okan University.

Jani Elasmaa
Helsinki Airport, Finavia
Mr. Jani Elasmaa works as Head of Airfield Maintenance with Finavia Corporation at Helsinki Airport, which is the largest airport in Finland. Helsinki Airport serves nearly 18 million passengers per year and is becoming largest hub airport in Asia-EU traffic. Mr. Elasmaa and his team are responsible of operational runway safety process, including animal control and naturally all snow logistics during the season. Airfield Maintenance employs nearly 200 people combined with outsourced staff. Before joining Helsinki Airport, Mr. Elasmaa held position of Quality Manager with reputable ground handling company, and was responsible of De-icing operations, quality management, ramp training and various other tasks, in timespan of over 20 years. Jani was also lead project manager in ISAGO process, which enabled his represented company to acquire IATA’s quality standard station-wide.

Celal Tolga Imamoglu
World Resources Institute Turkey
Celal Tolga Imamoglu is a Road Safety Projects Manager at World Resources Institute Turkey with a focus on public transportation, bus rapid transit (BRT), cycling infrastructure design, traffic safety projects as well as integrated transport. He is currently involved in supporting efforts related to planning, development and implementation of sustainable transportation projects in Turkish cities and Ghana Accra, Ethiopia Addis Ababa, including road safety inspections, audits. He has conducted more than 50 road safety inspections and more than 20 road safety audits.
Tolga is a transportation engineer M.Sc. with a background in civil engineering. He obtained his civil engineering degree from Yildiz Technical University, Istanbul, followed by a master›s degree in Transportation Engineering from Istanbul Technical University.

Pekka Pakkala
Pekka Pakkala is an international renowned transportation consultant, with experience and competencies in asset management and maintenance, project delivery methods, Performance Based Maintenance Contracts (PBMC), Public Private Partnerships (PPP), international practices and benchmarking, research projects, and training and education. Pekka has been an IRF instructor for more than 10 years.
