AMSTERDAM, March 13, 2026 — The International Road Federation (IRF Global) played an active role at Intertraffic Amsterdam 2026, held March 10–13 at RAI Amsterdam, bringing its international expertise to discussions on road funding, work zone safety, intelligent transport systems, smart mobility, and road safety.
IRF Global’s technical program on March 11 featured a series of sessions addressing current challenges and emerging priorities across the transportation sector. The Future Road Funding seminar, “Road User Charging and Concessions – Competing or Complementary Models for Europe?”, examined how Europe can approach the long-term funding and management of road networks as motorway concession contracts approach renewal and traditional fuel tax revenues decline. The discussion considered the potential for Road User Charging to complement concession-based models while maintaining network performance, safety and service quality.
The program also included a session on Safer Work Zone Practices, bringing attention to practical approaches for protecting road workers and road users in work zones. Open meetings of the IRF ITS & Smart Mobility Committee and IRF Road Safety Committee further expanded the program, allowing experts and practitioners to exchange views on developments in intelligent mobility, technology and road safety.
Beyond the technical sessions, IRF Global maintained an exhibition presence at Intertraffic, engaging with transportation professionals, industry representatives and partners throughout the event.
