BUDAPEST, May 20, 2026 — The International Road Federation (IRF Global) brought three expert-led sessions to the Transport Research Arena (TRA) Budapest 2026, focusing on resilient road funding, workforce development and sustainable and resilient pavements.
The “Resilient Road Funding in a Changing Mobility System” session examined the funding pressures facing road networks as mobility patterns, vehicle technologies and user expectations evolve. Discussions focused on approaches to maintaining reliable investment and network performance under changing mobility conditions.
“Workforce Development: Skills for the Future” addressed the skills and capabilities needed to support an increasingly technology-driven transportation sector, while “Sustainable & Resilient Pavements” examined how pavement design, materials and management approaches can respond to long-term performance and sustainability requirements.
The three sessions brought together perspectives from transportation professionals and experts, with discussions linking policy, technical practice and infrastructure delivery.
