IRF Provides Customized Road Safety Training to Road Authorities in Ecuador and Bolivia
The IRF, in a joint effort with the Development Bank of Latin America (CAF) and local road authorities, conducted road safety training in Quito and Guayaquil, Ecuador, and La Paz, Bolivia.
This custom two-day training program offered in each city was an overview that included infrastructure and design best practices and challenges, vulnerable road users, and road safety audits, all designed to help Ecuador and Bolivia build and manage safer road networks.
Attended by more than 300 people, the training gathered national and local government officials, police, consultants, and other industry-related individuals. The IRF highlighted the need for strong national road safety councils to be established and empowered — creating them as multidisciplinary hubs which advocate for an agenda focused on road safety. The council will be the lead agency in charge of setting guidelines, parameters, goals and strategies to fulfill the U.N. Decade of Action commitments, to which both Ecuador and Bolivia previously committed.
The IRF thanks CAF, the national road agencies and the event sponsors for the opportunity to promote road safety in Latin America.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column width=”1/1″][/vc_column][/vc_row]
