The Road Scholar Program identifies promising international students currently enrolled in graduate programs at the IRF Member Universities in the United States. The Executive Fellows are recommended by their professors, and must demonstrate not only great educational accomplishments, but also a strong desire to use their education in their home countries.

1st IRF Africa Regional Congress

This conference will offer experts the opportunity to analyze different facets of transportation supply and provision in Africa. It will provide the platform for stakeholders in the transportation sector to share best practices and formulate goal-driven policies that will improve transportation infrastructure on the continent. Attendees will have the opportunity to dialogue with government officials, developmental partners, contractors, consultants and other stakeholders who share a common interest in improving the lives of Africans through a sound, resilient and safe transportation system.

2015 IRF Student Essay Competition

The IRF Student Essay Competition is an annual contest held to recognize promising road research. This competition is open to all students attending an IRF Member university in good standing, as well as IRF Fellows currently enrolled as full time students.

Output & Performance – Based Contracts

The training will cover the principles, concepts, components, techniques, and benefits of good output and performance based contracting. The contents will be based on well accepted best practices and on the hands on experiences of the instructors. The workshop will teach the most relevant best practices as they relate to project planning and programming, target delivery, quality assurance and target evaluation.

PPPs in the Road Sector Workshop

This PPP workshop will involve a detailed discussion of key success factors such as building capacity within the public and private sector, the necessary policy & legal frameworks, optimal risk sharing practices, and available tools to assess the financial viability of projects. In addition, the program will examine successful examples from both emerging and developed economies and present practices and tools that can be utilized under different country conditions.

2nd IRF Africa Regional Congress

The Congress will serve as a means to deliver world-class knowledge resources and practical guidance across shared transportation challenges specifically road safety and infrastructure asset management. It will bring together regional and local industry stakeholders from government, academia, multilateral banks, civil society and the private sector to help find solutions to the region’s transportation challenges.
