IRF organized a 2-day Asphalt and Concrete Pavement conference in Bogota, Colombia. More than 120 stakeholders gathered to share and discuss current best practices in design, construction and maintenance of their primary road networks.

In attendance were senior level professionals from the Ministry of Transport, INVIAS, the Municipality of Bogota, toll road concessionaires, contractors, product manufacturers, equipment manufacturers and academia.

Speakers from the US, Europe, Latin America and host Colombia discussed the need to update existing standards and look for cost effective solutions that can improve the life cycle cost of their various projects. Colombia is in its fourth generation (“4G’s”) of road PPPs. One of the results of the conference is the undebatable need for proper asset management plans to be set in place.

The conference was complemented by a private commercial exhibit for IRF member companies to share information on their various products and services related to road construction and maintenance.
